Gali Dash

News and updates

What's new in Gali Dash, what's coming next and how the beta is going. Newest first.

A new Gali, the ghats and our road map

Gali running up the steps under the Gali Ghat arch, along a riverside terrace with cane umbrellas, and past the havelis on the ghats

A new Gali. We rebuilt him from a fresh 3D model. His knees and elbows now bend at the joints instead of like soft rubber, and he dances on the main menu. All eleven hoodie skins work on the new model.

The ghats. Now and then the gali climbs a flight of steps under the Gali Ghat arch onto a riverside walkway with boats, cane umbrellas and old havelis. Run up and down the stone terraces, go round the pandits' umbrellas, jump the brass pots, slide under the washing lines and watch out for cows.

Also new: coins on the rooftops count double, a drainpipe to slide down from the roofs, a 3-2-1 countdown when you resume, round coins and bolder text, and support for older 32-bit phones.

All of this comes in the next beta update. The road map is at the top of this page.

Play Gali Dash in your browser

You can now try Gali Dash without installing anything. A playable demo is up on this website and on PixelPicked, the game discovery site, where Gali Dash has been approved as a curated game. It runs on phones and computers: swipe on a touch screen, or use the arrow keys on a keyboard.

The demo has no ads. Its progress stays in your browser and is separate from the Android game.

Diwali comes to the galis, 6 to 10 November

For the five days of Diwali, from Dhanteras on 6 November to Bhai Dooj on 10 November, the streets switch to night with diyas, string lights and fireworks, and Gali gets a festive welcome on the menu.

The current beta turned the Diwali look on a few days early. That's fixed, and the fix goes out in the next beta update, so the lights will follow the festival dates from now on. Holi and the monsoon follow their own dates in the same way.

Thank you, testers

More than 20 players joined the closed beta in its first two days. Google Play asks new games to run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days before they can launch publicly, so every tester helps Gali Dash get to the store.

Please keep the game installed and play a run when you can. If something feels unfair, too hard or broken, post in the tester group or email bikashnayak36331@gmail.com. Every message gets read.

The closed beta is open on Google Play

Gali Dash 1.0.0 is out to testers on Google Play. It's free, there's no login, and it plays offline. The beta is open in 144 countries; it isn't available in the EU, the UK or Switzerland yet.

Joining takes about a minute: join the tester group, become a tester, then install from Google Play, all with the same Google account.
